The things we miss

When we moved to Australia, we knew there would be lots of things we would miss, both positive and negative. Birthdays, illnesses, holidays, deaths. It is one thing to know, and another to experience.

One of Justin & I's dear friends, Mark, has cancer. We knew this when I applied to school, and when we made the decision to move. We followed along with his treatment, and recognized the realities of the situation as the conversation moved from 'once Mark is done chemo' to 'surgery didn't go as expected' to '...as comfortable as possible for as long as possible'. We knew it would be hard not to be there, not to be among friends as things progressed. This is the hard.

So, dear readers, I'm asking for your assistance to make a terrible situation a little less hard for Mark, his wife Meghan, and their very young son Lucas. They have a go fund me set up to help Mark and his family with the ongoing costs of home care. Of course I understand if people are not in a financial position to donate, but if you are able, it would be greatly appreciated.

A note from Justin:

Mark has been my friend for the last 15+ years. We have lived together, gone to school together, become adults together. He is one of my closest friends, and I would appreciate any help people can offer to make this challenging time a little less challenging. Love you Mark
