When Justin and I started our Terrifying European Adventure (TEA), I quickly discovered it was hard to talk to only one person, all day, everyday. I had so many observations and comments in my head that I was dying to share with all my friends and family at home. To appease for of these feelings, I started writing and sending travel logs emails. As our trip went on word of the travel logs spread, and the mailing list got longer and longer. I maintained the emails for the whole trip. And while I love that this meant our family and friends could follow along on our journey, the true value of these emails showed itself after the trip. By the time we returned home, in addition to our daily instagram photos, we had a full account of our adventure. Daily observations & experiences, highs & lows, all documented for us to revisit anytime we wanted.
Now that we are planning a move to Australia, I feel the urge to restart the travel logs. But this time, I don't want the hassle of figuring out who to include/exclude. Instead, I've decided to write freely about our experiences for whomever is interested. The goal here is not only to document the trip, but also to help deal with one of the true challenges of making a move like this: loneliness. Big adventures are fantastic and full of new experiences, but prolonged travel and time away can make you feel disconnected from friends and family. My goal is to use this blog to help stay connected to all those loved ones that I know are watching us from afar. And away we go!
